Paleo Bang Bang Shrimp
So, I have to admit something to you all. Remember that pact Michael and I made about CrossFit, where we decided we couldn’t skip more than 2 days in a row? Well, I may have broken my pledge this weekend when I didn’t go to class on Saturday. Michael was skiing, getting his exercise on, while I laid in bed and read a book right through both morning classes. Shame on me. I really felt bad about missing exercise, especially since we’re doing the Whole30, but I couldn’t bring myself to get out of the house for anything other than shopping. Oops! Today was our first day back in four days and I was expecting it to just about kill me. But.. you know what? It wasn’t so bad. In fact, I ended up doing the prescribed weight for the WOD, which I’ve never done before. Maybe taking a bit of time off every now and then isn’t such a bad thing. Check it out:
Yep, that’s right – I did 25lb for the dumbbell snatches. That may not be very exciting to you, but I was pretty dang happy.
In other news, I have an awesome new recipe that you must try! Have any of you ever eaten at Bonefish Grill? Well, they have an amazing appetizer, Bang Bang Shrimp, consisting of breaded fried shrimp smothered in a mayo hot sauce served over shredded lettuce. It’s OMG good. I had the idea the other day to mix hot sauce with mayo for a chicken dipping sauce and lo and behold I stumpled upon the ingredients for the Bang Bang sauce. Needless to say, I was super excited. Before I get to the recipe though I need to recap my eats from the past two days…

Paleo Bang Bang Shrimp
1 lb Shrimp (Peeled & Deveined)
3/4 cup of Paleo Mayo
3-4 Tbsp. Hot Sauce
1/2 tsp. Red Pepper Flakes
2 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
A good sprinkling of Garlic Powder
Salt & Pepper to taste
Lay the shrimp out on a cutting board and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper (I used garlic salt). Heat the coconut oil in a skillet over medium heat. While you’re waiting for the oil to heat up, combine the mayo, hot sauce, and red pepper flakes in a medium sized bowl. Once the oil is hot, add the shrimp, stirring frequently. When the shrimp are done (about 3-5 minutes) add them to the sauce bowl and stir until coated. Serve over some butter lettuce and enjoy!

CrossFit is definitely something! Thanks Irene!
Congrats on your first RX workout, that’s huge!
Love this recipe too.
Thanks! I was really excited… I hope you enjoy the recipe when you make it!
Would you mind telling us what kind of hot sauce you used? This sounds amazing!
We used Frank’s Red Hot – it’s super delish and doesn’t have a crazy list of ingredients.
This was delish! Just finishing eating it now
I just eyeballed the sauce since I hate measuring, but it’s SO QUICK! This could become a busy day classic. Thanks!
Yay! Glad you liked it!!
